9th “José Jacinto Cuevas” Yamaha International Piano Competition
The “José Jacinto Cuevas” Piano Competition was founded in 2008 in honor of the great legacy of Mr. José Jacinto Cuevas, trying to follow in his footsteps as well as those of the great musicians of the State of Yucatán, giving opportunities to young pianists to compete and learn not only their personal level, but also to compare it with that of their colleagues at an international level.
The first edition of the Competition took place in the City of Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico, in 2008, and since then, it has been held in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2021, and 2023.
The ninth edition of the Competition will take place from November 27 to December 6, 2025.
